Whether it's your first or your third, the newborn stage can be so tender and so jarring. Awe, exhaustion, delight, anxiety— you're probably feeling all of it. My approach to newborn photography centers your family and your unique story. There's no stiff or awkward posing here (for you or your baby!). I often find that your home is the best location for newborn photos, as it offers the most comfort and ease, but if you have a different vibe in mind, I always have ideas!
Only with permission! I ask all families about their preferences regrading images of their session being shared online in my pre-session questionnaire.
Film is a great fit for newborn sessions because it creates a slower, more intentional pace. See my Pricing page for more information on the difference between my film and digital packages.
Comfort is key, especially for newborn photos. Something flowy (a dress, or pants and a loose top) is usually most comfortable for mom. I'll provide guidance and help you review options over text if wanted!
Newborn sessions are scheduled for 90 minutes and usually take the full time. This allows for breaks to feed, change, and soothe your baby as much as they need while still leaving us plenty of time to capture a beautiful gallery of photos.
At-home sessions are always cozy and convenient, especially with a newborn. If you'd like an outdoor location, I have tons of recommendations and am always happy to scout a new location to fit the vibe you are looking for.
I'll help us figure out the ideal time of day based on the natural light in your home, if we're doing an in-home session, or the outdoor location of your choice. If your baby has particularly fussy or happy times of day, we will of course take that into account as well!
